CodeTables

Welcome to CodeTables. We are dedicated to the knowledge and management of reference data. Reference data is any kind of data that is used solely to categorize other data found in a database, or solely for relating data in a database to information beyond the boundaries of the enterprise.

Most people encounter reference data as code tables - tables consisting of a code and a description - hence the same of our site.

We have developed a platform for Reference Data Management (RDM). On this site we use it to offer information about many standard code tables that are likely to be of interest to business people and data professionals alike. A "standard" code table is one maintained by an organization for general use - we call the organization an "authority". We also provide a quick link to these tables via Data Pages so you can get straight to the data.

While the base data we manage is not editable you can post your comments and observations to help the community.

Why should you be interested in code tables? Because they connect data in so many ways. Code tables give context to business data, are needed for data exchange, and and must have very high data quality (ever heard of "coding errors"?).

Not only can you browse our knowledge base and get quick access to sources, but you can also propose additional code tables that we can include in our inventory. Ask for as many as you want.

We welcome your feedback about how we can improve our service. Just click on the Feedback link and share your thoughts. Happy code tables!
